GuidesExporting Animations for Roblox Playback
Exporting Animations for Roblox Playback
A cautious export checklist: permissions, minimal test clips, and separating editor preview from runtime playback.
Quick answer
Validate preview, export a minimal control clip first, confirm AnimationId and Animator setup at runtime, then export the full shot. Capture exact error text when export fails.
Before you export
- Preview the full shot in the editor.
- Confirm the rig matches your runtime character.
- Note FPS and frame range with an explicit inclusive/exclusive convention.
- Ensure you are logged into an account that can publish animation assets.
Minimal control export
- Export a 2–3 keyframe clip on a known-good R15 character.
- If the control clip fails, fix toolchain/permissions before debugging the hero animation.
- If the control clip works, compare joint coverage and length against the failing clip.
After export
- Play the animation with an Animator on the character.
- Check priority conflicts with locomotion.
- If preview worked but runtime fails, focus on AnimationId, ownership, and loader code — not keyframe art.
